Participants learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies. Skills include checking a conscious and unconscious victim, clearing an obstructed airway, rescue breathing and CPR on individuals 8 years of age and older. Use of an Automated External Defibrillator is also covered. Participants learn to recognize and care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Skills included are bandaging wounds, splinting limbs, caring for burns, diabetic emergencies, seizures and heat and cold related injuries. (6 hours)
